Could that be considered a conflict of interest? Has an attorney been consulted and if so will his or her opinion letter be shared with everyone?

All I know is that it was fixed. Hey, after all it is the government.

The Lawyer Present said it was not a Conflict as long as they NEVER discuss CDD bussiness with each other outside of a CDD meeting......

Of course, when I pointed out that Alex was basically Eds Boss, because Ed has to Report to Alex and that it IS a clear conflict of interest.... No One seemed to Cared......

I attended the CDD meeting to see this election. There are 2 things that bother me.
1. Why did the board have a recess after nominations were made for the replacement of Joel? If this time was used for Alex to convince Kim to vote his way, I think that violates the sunshine law. Note: after the recess Kim did vote with Alex, so even if they did not discuss this it sure looks that way. I think the board should go back and look at the 11/17/06 meeting minutes and see about the Sunshine law brief. They told you if it even has a perception of you doing business in other forums there could be problems. Well I have the perception that Alex and Kim discussed this vote behind close doors.

2. Ed Gonzalez was walking in and out of the room, listening at various times of the board discussing the replacement of Joel.
After the board elected Curtis but before the board even had time to swear him in, Ed REMEMBERS he is in possession of a resignation letter from Carmen Miranda the 5th board member. He never brought this up during the hour and a half long meeting that had spent the last hour talking about a resigning board member. Despite listening to the discussions and the nominees stating thier views, none of this jogged Ed's memory enough to bring up the fact (AND A HUGE FACT THAT HE HAD THE RESIGNATION LETTER FROM ANOTHER BOARD MEMBER) for over 24 hours.
Then he has the audacity to say he wants to run for that seat. Why was he not nominated and discussed when the first seat was open? Then the board was going to vote for him without swearing in Curtis. Then once Curtis was sworn in he tried to abstain. Once a vote was made OUR CDD board that is responsible for all of the CDD money voted as thier new member the same guy (ED) who 10 minutes earlier could not even remember he was in possession of a board members resignation letter while the board was discussing the replacement of another board member. This just goes to shows the caliber of people on the board.

This whole thing looked totally crooked. It may not of been, but the perception is that is was.

So now Alex has 3 other members in his pocket.

Can't wait to the next election.

Dear Mr. Seilkop

I was one, of three persons, trying to get the open position on the CDD, unfortunatelly I have to agree with your comments.
I highly respect Mark and Curtiss, because, they care, for Waterstone.
I have been involved with the CDD, since, the prior Board, formed by the developers. So you should think, that somebody with experience, should be a good candidate for the opening.
At the last meeting, I embarresed myself doing a presentation, of why I should be a good candidate for the opening.
As you witnessed, that was not good enough to beat a well prepared theater act.
I love theater, but FARSE, is not my favorite type of theater.
Maybe you notice, how Luis Hernandez, told me to shut-up, or how Kim told Mark Reyes to shut-up.
This CDD Board, is suppose, to represent the best interest of the majority, but, as you can see, they just represent The View of one person, that is in a hurry, to
increase the Budget, even when we DO NOT KNOW, how much of the 9% given by the State, the City of Homestead, will apply to our taxes.
As reference, Coral Gables or Miami Beach, will not pass a full 9% to the taxpayers, because, they can not afford that, without getting the city in trouble.

Dear Mr. Seilkop, thanks for caring.

Do you have the company phone number for Mr. Espriella? I have other busines to discuss with Continental Group, and I think having this information may help me reslove some issues.

Thanks in advance for any information.

Too much politics at the expense of the community's best interest.

Too much power in the hands of few.

Not enough information, verifiable information, for use as a base for decision making.

Too many smoke and mirrors to obscure personal agendas.

Selling and moving out of this political mud slinging nightmare equals peace of mind.

Good luck to all and hope that somehow the dust settles and the community's interest prevails.

Wish the best for all involved and hopefully none of you wil allow politics to affect your family lives.

How much of yourself are willing to give up?

Best Wishes to all.

Alex and cronies are a bunch of shameless crooks. Homestead will never be the next Doral, Coral Gables, or Kendall for that matter. Outside of our beloved communities Homestead is a ghetto. Scary!!!!
