yes, if it not does not take away from the beauty of the community especially in the main areas. It should not be an eyesore ---it is a good idea. Some communities are allowed to have boats and trailers parked in their yards and it looks terrible. they should all be parked together in a secure out of the way location.

Why would you want to convert our community area into a trailer park? That's why they have storage areas where you can store your potential eyesores

So much for trying to live in a nice community. This is absolutely trailer park style living. Let's spend money to buy nice houses and make our community the "Coral Gables of Homestead" and then put big warehouses to hold your boats. That's certainly the classy neighborhood we want.

We live in South Florida, we pay rediculous taxes and insurance etc... I think that of course individuals should be allowed to use "common areas" to park boats etc... that is part of the lure of living down here. Now, that being said, I think there should be guidelines on the appearance of these items, i.e. covers and non eye sore junk...

Yes! I own a boat and wish to purchase a RV soon. I would gladly pay the CDD to store these items close to me. I have seen communities in broward that offer these types of amenities, and it increases the value of the homes by giving people an opportunity to buy a home here, rather than someplace else. We happen to live at the doorstep of a huge recreational area! I'm sure if you run the numbers as to spaces, costs, etc. you would get the cost of construction for the facility back and then apply the excess back into the CDD to repay the bonds, capital improvements, upgrades, etc. I also think the word green space does not apply here as there is no such thing since the developers never included it in the original plan.

Great Idea, I have a boat and would love to see this, But where could it go?

Providing that it is out of the way and it can be placed under the FPL easement. Keysgate has storage why not figure out a way to make it happen for us? Selling feature for homes and money can be kicked back to the CDD. Its a win win for everyone. Property values go up!

No it makes the community look unkept.

Whom will ensure that thefts/vandilism wont occur in this area? Perhaps this will cause additional costs for security. In addition, routinely these areas are not atbestically appealing.

we live in south fl, minutes from the ocean. It's absurd not to be able to keep a boat at home. Is that not one of the selling points of this area?

ITS A GREAT IDEA SINCE BOATS ARE NO ALLOWED TO BE PARKED IN MOST COMMUNITY BYLAWS.

Anonymous said...

No, not even if they are paying a storage fee.

1. This would look tacky
2. There is no way there would be enough space for everyone if they wanted to store something. You can not charge someone for space they are already paying for, nor can you charge the entire community for space only certain folks are using.
Moreover, there is not as much green space as most of the residents of this community were initially promised (several acre park) to begin with--what we have should remain GREEN

What else can use the land under the power lines for. You should not build a park under the power lines. I think it is great idea. The charge should be low since we already pay into the land.

NO! I THINK THAT IS A WAIST OF TIME. THAT WILL LOOK VERY UGLY. ITS NOT TO SAY THAT IT WILL BE IN AN AREA WHERE NO ONE CAN SEE IT. IT IS IN THE MAIN PATH OF THE WATERSTONE AREA. HOWEVER, I THINK WE NEED TO USE THAT SPACE AND MAKE IT INTO A FAMILY FRIENDLY AREA. WATERSTONE HAS NOTHING FOR THE KIDS, NOTHING. I HAVE ONLY SEEN A VERY SMALL/BORING PLAY AREA NEXT TO THE NEW CLUB HOUSE FOR THE KIDS. I THINK WE NEED TO MAKE A BIG, FUN PLAY AREA FOR THE KIDS. MAYBE MAKE A COVERED AREA WITH SOME PICK NICK TABLES AND LITTLE PARK BBQ'S.

What Common Area/Green Space?

Oh the one that was suppose to be for our Promised Park?

Why don't we make a Park instead with this so called Common Area/Green Space?

This is south FL, and we're minutes away from Biscayne Bay & the Keys-- of course there should be an area for boats, etc! As a boat owner not only does it make sense, but it would save the community the 39 cents it costs everytime to mail me a violation for parking my "eyesore" in the driveway for the early morning fishing trips-- believe me, it adds up! It is a huge selling point, esp. considering that every other house in these communities is for sale. I'm sure those who bought at the height of the boom would like to break even! A park doesn't concern me, I have no kids...

I agree in using whatever space available to make a family friendly local. This should help discourage children from playing in the streets and improve safety in the community. We did buy into a park originally as promised by developers, not storage space. For those individuals who do not have children. Quit being so bitter!!!!

The "green" area that we are all talking about should not be made into a storage facility. If it is going to be inside the community then it needs to be something that the whole community can use, such as a park. I have a boat and even though it may be more convenient it is not the right thing to do since there are plenty of storage facilities outside of waterstone.

Another CRAZY IDEA, part of "The Vision".
Some people, should get informed, about insurance policies, building under electrical lines, before start generating ideas, that will increase rumors and anxiety inside Waterstone.

Would like to see more recreation area.

It seems to me that A STORAGE AREA FOR BOATS, ETC IS A LUXURY NOT A NECESSITY. It would benefit only the few residents who actually have boats, etc.

Now I'm sure that boats are nice to have and that those of you that have them really enjoy them with your families and friends, but why in God's name would I want to pay for you to store your boat?

If you're going to have something as specialized as a boat storage area that would only benefit boat owners, then let all of the costs of, building, manning, attending, using, maintaining be paid by those of you that own boats.
They can pay for the use of our land, for the building of the storage area, the maintenance, the attending, and the general use of it.
At the Townhall Meeting the CDD president said that spending a little more for something like a boat storage area would increase the resale value of our homes.
GET REAL. The tile that I put in my house, the fact that it's on a lake, those might help the resale value, but a boat storage area? I highly doubt it.

Look the reality is that too many of us homeowners are just barely hanging on as it is. If I'm going to pay extra...then maybe for some NECESSITY, like extra security, the gates that the CDD president mentioned, perhaps. But a boat storage area? Something that will benefit only a few? Something that is a luxury? I don't see how that's fair.
If you want to have the luxury of a boat, that's wonderful, but YOU PAY FOR IT.

Frankly, I don't see how in a time when most of us are getting slammed by outrageous insurance rates and soaring taxes, that you can ask us to spend more of our hard earned money on something as frivolous as a boat storage area which would only benefit a few, at the expense of the whole community.
Something I'd be curious about is who's grand idea was this anyway? Also, how many of you on the board own boats?

Guys, remember how you felt when you found out that you would be paying thousands extra for your home beacause of the CDD. Remember that your first instinct was probably to destroy the CDD, at the very least not pay it. Yes the CDD maybe a necessary evil, but for God's sake don't raise it any further. That's enough.

You people need to save us money whenever you can. Or at least use our money for something that we all can use, not just the people lucky enough to have boats

Maybe I was at a different town hall meeting, but I think I heard the president say that the people who store their boats would be paying monthly to do so and that the cost would not only fully pay for the storage area, but it would upgrade an area that we are currently paying $800 a month to maintain. I don’t have a boat, but that sounds like a win-win situation.
